About Dr. Accardo

Dr. Shaun Accardo is a board-certified Hip, Knee, Musculoskeletal Oncology, & Trauma Specialist at BROC’s Bluebonnet Campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

After completing Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Dr. Accardo was further trained in Musculoskeletal Oncology at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. He was also granted and completed an international traveling Fellowship in both Musculoskeletal Oncology and Orthopaedic Trauma in Oxford, UK, Bern, Switzerland, and Padova, Italy. Dr. Accardo’s specific clinical interests include benign and malignant bone tumors in adults and children, benign and malignant soft tissue tumors in adults and children, limb preservation/salvage surgery for bone and soft tissue tumors, and complex orthopaedic trauma.

Metastatic bone disease is cancer that originates in one part of the body (most commonly breast, lung, thyroid, kidney, and prostate) and spreads to the bone. Cancer cells can travel to any bone in the body and can cause pain and decrease mobility. Cancer cells can weaken the bone and cause a fracture. Our goal is to identify and treat patients before a fracture occurs.

Post-Fracture Care and Metastatic Bone Disease Clinic. We provide a multidisciplinary approach to treatment, and personalized care for each patient based on their unique needs.
